Small changes in U5b1 modern relative frequency in peripheral areas Samara and West Africa
To test the update, I compared U5b1 relative frequency from 1.02.18055 (Oct 2022) to 1.02.23066 (Jun 2025).
I found a moderate increase in Samara and a slight decrease in West Africa. If these changes are correct, it means there would have been additional samples U5b1 samples from Samara added to the tree and additional non-U5b1 samples from West Africa added to the tree (diluting U5b1 there) in the last 2.5 years. The frequency in Samara peaks between 3.5-4% and between 4.5-5% in West Africa.
Another development is that U5b1 sample(s) from Bechar, Algeria or surrounding regions contribute to a more uniform distribution in the Maghreb, with peak frequency approximately equal to that of West Africa.
